Every year we take on a copywriter’s book challenge as a group. We choose books to read that will enhance our writing and business skills and after we read them we write an honest report on each.

The 2016 copywriter’s book challenge was not very successful. It just kind of fell off the edge of our plans. We read three (I think) of the books we chose, another three were partially read, and the remainders looked really good sitting on the desks when clients stopped by.

For 2017’s Copywriter’s Book Challenge, we are going to try a different method.

First off, it’s just me (Rebecca) that will enter the challenge. If you’d like to read along with me, I would LOVE that.
Second, we are not going to sweep our failures under the rug. Just because sometimes you don’t finish something you started, doesn’t mean it was a bad idea. So, we will carry over a few of last year’s books and add some more.
Third, I am going to look at this as more of a growth challenge and include some other methods of learning in with the books.

The Copywriter’s Book Challenge Theme

The theme this year is writing to reach. Sometimes I choose books about growing your business, harnessing your creativity, or staying the course, but I want to choose books that will enhance writing skills (never be too good to learn!), from a few different angles in order to help reach more people. I seem to be doing fine engaging people when they come to my site, but 2017 is the year of meeting new friends! So, if you are looking to grow your mailing list, reach new clients or get more publicity, this could be a perfect learning opportunity for you too!
