employee marketing

Employees make a business run smoothly, but good employees can be hard to attract. Potential employees and customers alike are looking for personable companies with good reputations. Both of these goals can be accomplished by featuring employee spotlights on your page.

What are employee spotlights?

Employee spotlights are social media posts or website features that put your employees front and center for an audience to learn about them and your brand. Employee spotlights can be used to feature an anniversary, accomplishment, or success. You can highlight your employee for their work or personal life, like hobbies, interests, or a fun fact. A great employee spotlight example is here.

Company Connections

In a company with many different divisions and sectors, fostering a connection between employees in separate departments can be difficult. In our new, remote work environment this problem has become even more exasperated. By highlighting employees, there is an opportunity for a connection between employees. This can be on a professional level as a way to learn about a different position within the company, or this can be on a personal level such as a shared interest between employees. These connections create a more positive company culture and can even improve productivity!

Attract new employees

Positive company culture is a priority for young people entering the workforce, and while employee spotlights can improve this culture, they can also highlight it. Employee spotlights highlight that a company values its employees, another priority for young people. Employee spotlights can also show potential employees behind the scenes, and that knowledge can sway them in their job search.

Sales

Customers are more inclined to shop at companies that feel genuine and have a good reputation. Employee spotlights and behind-the-scenes posts can make a brand’s image more relatable. Rather than seeing your company itself as a business that is selling them something, a customer engaging with an employee spotlight sees your company as a group of people bringing a product to life.

How to implement employee spotlights

The first step to creating an employee spotlight is to decide who to feature. Is there anyone at your company that has a special project, anniversary, or accomplishment? Next, you’ll want to conduct an interview with this employee, here are some questions to get you started:

  • How long have you been at this company?
  • What is your most fond memory of this company?
  • What is the most exciting part of your job?
  • What advice would you give to someone who wants to do this job in the future?
  • What was your first job?
  • What motivates you?
  • What is your favorite movie?
  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

There are so many ways to execute the post on your website or social media. You can create a graphic with their photo to post to social media, a video interview for your website, or a blog post about your interview.
